I recently went to Paris for the weekend and it was amazing.
Although it was the first trip that I booked, I regretted booking it as soon as I moved into my dorm because I had already been before and especially after I went on the Scotland trip. I was not extremely impressed by that trip but I was hoping Paris would be different because it didn’t require as much driving. The real reason I decided to keep the trip in my schedule was because I couldn’t get my money back if I canceled it. But, I am so glad I decided to go.
We did so much. First we got a tour of the city from our tour guide, which was really interesting. We then went to Île de la Cité, The Louvre to see the Mona Lisa, followed by dinner at cafe where we sat outside and watched a street band.
The next day we took a bike tour of the city which was honestly the most amazing experience. We got to see most of the sites we saw before but we got to cover more ground and experience what it is like to actually live in Paris and bike around everywhere we go.
We then got macaroons, visited the new lock bridge, and saw the Eiffel Tower (again, time two) and then went on a boat tour, which was beautiful. On the tour, we saw the Eiffel Tower once again, as it was starting to get dark. We saw the Arc de Triomphe and walked along the Champs-Élysées. We then walked to the Eiffel Tower again to see it in the dark and watch the light show while we ate prosciutto pizza, which were both beautiful.
The next day, we visited Notre Dame and Montmartre, a beautiful town on a hill in Paris. When we were there, a wine festival was happening. We got to try a few things and look down the hill at Paris below. When I retire, I want to move to Montmartre, it is such a pretty town.
Although I have been to Paris before, this trip was unique and amazing. I had so much fun but I was so excited to come home and see the people in my house back at St. Mary’s.
