• Roommate Pairing Trouble That I Ran Into On My Program

I first applied for the college program with my friend from high school, Ashley. Before I even got into the program, I had decided that I wanted to go random with my rooming situation. I had just spent the last year of college as an RA with my own room. I had also previously had a random roommate, when I returned to school after studying abroad, and it worked out. I have a strong belief that everything happens for the best and I was hoping that this program’s rooming situation would be the same. My thinking process was that rooming separately from Ashley would just allow me a chance to…

  • When I am 80 Years Old . . .

I have always been pretty good at balancing my school work with my other activities and never feel like I am missing out on anything crucial with my friends or any other experiences. I think that is because I am very proactive and I try not to leave any work that I have until the last minute. I am also very realistic with my time. I know that an assignment will take a certain amount of time and I leave myself a slot in order to get it done efficiently. Here, I am not having a more difficult time planning, per say, but I am more aware of the choices…

  • Paris Trip

I recently went to Paris for the weekend and it was amazing. Although it was the first trip that I booked, I regretted booking it as soon as I moved into my dorm because I had already been before and especially after I went on the Scotland trip. I was not extremely impressed by that trip but I was hoping Paris would be different because it didn’t require as much driving. The real reason I decided to keep the trip in my schedule was because I couldn’t get my money back if I canceled it. But, I am so glad I decided to go. We did so much. First we…

  • What Kind of Study Abroad Experience Do I Want?

I am at about the halfway point of my semester abroad and I am really loving it. I am still trying to decide if I want to travel more. Everyone really stressed the importance of traveling on me before I left. The only problem is that I am really loving dorm life here. I find myself not getting very excited when I have a trip planned, although I always have fun. Some of the study abroad girls are traveling to amazing places every weekend, which sounds awesome but that is a lot of time, money, and living out of suitcases. They do get to see new and interesting things and…

  • Scotland Weekend

One of the things everyone stresses on you when you tell them that you are studying abroad is your need to travel to other countries, especially if you are studying in – or in the UK’s case, around – Europe. The first trip I took was to Scotland. As a huge fan of Outlander, this was the first weekender I booked. I was really hoping to go and meet a nice, manly Jamie Fraser, move to Scotland, and live happily ever after. But, the trip – and the country – were not what I expected. Scotland somewhat underwhelmed me. There was a lot to see and it was a beautiful country…

  • Transition to Studying Abroad

Now that I have finished my first week of classes, I have had time to look back and reflect on my transition to studying abroad. I decided to use my blog to document my time here so I can look back and remember my time here. I am currently studying in Twickenham, England at St. Mary’s University. I originally picked England because I thought it would be an easy transition and there is no language barrier. So far, the transition has been pretty seamless but with a few bumps. My dad brought me over and we stayed a few days in Teddington before I had to be at school. It…

  • Gilmore Girls Fashion For Today

I have been obsessed with Gilmore Girls lately and I have equally been obsessed with the duo’s fashion. It’s kind of difficult to decide if their fashion is coming back into style or if I am just really loving it because all I do is watch the show. I thought I would try to find a few pieces that reminded me of the show. But because it was filmed in the early 2000’s, it’s been a little difficult, but I did find a few bits.        I found a sweater from Madewell very similar to Rory’s in this scene. I thought these shoes from Anthropology were so similar…

  • Turtleneck Tuesday

Lately, I have been so obsessed with turtlenecks. I started liking them last winter but had a really difficult time finding them. I think they are so versatile (as whowhatwear shows) and can be worn with a skirt, jeans, under dresses, and sweaters. I think they’re becoming a bit more accessible than they were last year. I’m starting to see them everywhere. I was really excited to find that some of my favorite stores are beginning to supply this trend. Here are just a few: ~ Free People ~ This Purple Turtleneck. I just ordered this one. And also this one. ~ Madewell ~   This sweater looks so cozy. This one…

  • First SJU Basketball Game

Last Friday was the first basketball game of the season, and St. Joe’s — being a D1 school — made it kind of a big deal. I wasn’t that excited to go, but when the day came, I started to get very excited. During the game, I finally felt the school spirit that everyone talks about. Some of the cheers were kind of mean but it was in the spirit of supporting our school. It was a really, really good game and St. Joe’s ended up loosing in the last TWO SECONDS… I’m really glad I went though, I felt really at home and it was a lot of fun.

  • SO EXCITED FOR THANKSGIVING

This weekend, my friends and I just kind of hung out and I thought this weekend was going to be the hardest to get through but it actually went really quickly. I thought it was going to be difficult because we have two more weekends until Thanksgiving (next weekends the last one!). I know next weekend I’ll just be really excited to go home so that would get me through but I was a little worried about this weekend. To combat that, I asked my family to come down today and although I only saw them for a few hours, it was really, really nice. My main goal was to try…
